Two thousand-year-old beads of Roman glass (from Afghanistan) are woven along a sterling silver diamond-shaped frame with a center drop of cylindrical bluish-green Roman glass. Drop is 3/4 of an inch, so these are very light, easy to where and impossible not to notice. The smaller beads are a true aqua color, which is the color of most Roman glass (I just watched a documentary on it!). Fun fact: Romans recycled their glass over and over again, and had depository sites where used and broken glass could be returned. Funny how it took us almost 2000 years to think that up again, although it was only 1900 years for the re-invention of indoor plumbing and central heating. Anyway. The beads are woven onto the frame with sterling silver wire, and the oval ear wires (my new favorites) are also sterling silver. These are just mesmerizing in the light, as you can tell. I love them!!
