Victoria
Victoria
I love these glass pearl drops. They’ve been stashed away and forgotten for decades, in a box, on a shelf, in a basement. Age crept up as they got hot, froze, or felt the humidity. The map of time is all over them with crazed crackling, darkening and staining. You can’t really fake time; I adore the imperfect, unique patterns that each one beholds. Such character and story. All treated with an acrylic sealer to hold the patina in place and prevent flaking. However, do not jump in the shower with them. I can’t predict the results. I got these from a fellow in Manhattan who had bought out all of the new old stock from a defunct jeweler’s basement. They are OLD OLD. !930-40s, most likely. For 80 years these pearls have been changing, aging, sure that they would never see the light of day again, or become a show piece around the neck of a bride or someone who holds value in the unique. They’ve never been worn. Now’s their chance. And yes, they remind me of a young Queen Victoria. I really doubt you’ll find anything like these again. On a sterling silver chain with a sterling silver hook and loop as clasp.
