Salacia
Salacia
It made sense to name this piece Salacia, the Roman goddess of the sea, being that eight pieces of ancient Roman glass each represent a shade of water from clear to a darker lake green. The glass is approximately 2000 years old, found inAfghanistan and although they are not large enough for archeological study, they sure are gorgeous in a pendant. This is the largest pendant I’ve done so far; the rings were hand forged, soldered, shaped, hammered by me, starting from a sterling ingot into a circle. Theyare guaranteed sterling, and the chain is oxidized sterling oval links. In the photos over the garden, I just let the necklace swing to show how beautiful the light shines through it, differentiating all of the deepening shades. The toggle clasp is a handmade sterling piece I picked up at the Tucson Gem and Bead Show about a decade ago and saved it for something special. This piece is it. One of a kind, promise.
