Flower jasper pendant necklace
Flower jasper pendant necklace
I love jasper, especially in pendants. They cease becoming a gemstone and emerge as a painting, a literal piece of art. I would frankly love this as wallpaper or on a canvas. No two jasper stones are ever alike. This particular one is a big stone; 98.3 carats. Imagine this on a black silk dress, or white linen. Strung onto oval link sterling silver chain with sterling silver wire left unoxidized for a slight but nice contrast. No clasp on the back; right now I’m very into just putting things over my head, so you can adorn it solo. The base color is a grey with a touch of blue, the “flowers” are a dark, dark brown, nearly black. A gemology lesson: “Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony, and is usually associated with brown, yellow, or reddish colors, but may be used to describe other opaque colors of Chalcedony such as dark or mottled green, orange, and black. Jasper is almost always multicolored, with unique color patterns and habits.”
