My grandparents were very social in the 50’s and 60’s; they went to see bands, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Tommy Dorsey every weekend. Nana had a lot of costume jewelry; some really nice, high-end stuff. I have tried wearing them, but after a while, screw backs and clip-ons HURT, and end up invariably in my pocket. Now, while this piece wasn’t Nana’s, it is of the high-caliber quality her costume jewelry was, and not every long ago, before it met a jewelry saw and a file, it was a gen-u-wine screw back earring. But I have fixed that. It’s now a pierced earring with surgical steel post. If you look at the back of the piece, you can see that each stone has a joint; in cheaper and newer pieces, they are solid. Gross. No. Bad jewelry!! With joints, the earrings can move, swing, and sparkle the way the 50’s intended them to. These babies SHINE. They are gorgeous. One of a kind. Truly vintage. Drop is an inch and a quarter. Grab ‘em or I’m wearing them to work on Monday.
