Opal
Opal
She would tolerate smiles, even smile back at times, but when it came to anything more than that, she'd issue a warning first. A stern look, a quick, cutting phrase. If that wasn't enough of a deterrent, she knew how to place her feet, square her body and deliver a solid right cut. She'd slide over a beer, pour a whiskey, do it cordially, even; but some of these fellas, especially those traveling through with dusty boots and thirsty horses, thought they were owed something more. They could pay for a fake whisper upstairs, but down here, she hadn't spent years behind this bar by being a daisy.
