Terrain series: Osolite Jasper pendant

Terrain series: Osolite Jasper pendant

$45.00

If you ask me (and no one is) jasper is not nearly celebrated as much as it should be. Jasper is a stone of virtually any color comprised of minerals & sediments or volcanic ash. The patterns and variety of colors form when sediment and volcanic ash are consolidated and then heated by water from the Earth’s crust, like a magma chamber. (Did you hear that? A MAGMA CHAMBER!) Is it rarely blue, but this collection I’ve scored has light greyish-blue all through it. It reminds me of the southwest, with the colors of caramel, cream and blue all coming together. This pendant is a sunny, perfect December afternoon in the Sonoran desert—it’s open, fresh, and smells of mesquite in bloom. (Sometimes, I miss home more than I let on.)

This is a large stone: 38 carats—definitely a statement piece and I’m warning you that when you wear it, people you don’t know will be wanting to touch your baubles. I say let them. It’s not often they get to hold something that survived a MAGMA chamber in their little human hands.

Sterling silver chain, oxidized, sterling silver wire woven on to chain.
